Express Entry: Canada Invites 2,500 Healthcare Professionals in Second Largest Draw of 2025
Big news for healthcare professionals aspiring to move to Canada! On August 19, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held another Express Entry draw targeting candidates in the Healthcare and Social Services occupation category.
In this round, 2,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency were issued, making it the second-largest healthcare-focused draw of the year.
August 19, 2025 Express Entry Healthcare Draw Highlights
To qualify for this draw, candidates were required to:
- Have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 470
- Submit their Express Entry profile before April 23, 2025 at 8:08 p.m. UTC
This is part of IRCC’s ongoing strategy to prioritize candidates with healthcare and social services experience, addressing Canada’s growing demand for skilled professionals in this sector.
Express Entry Draw Trends in 2025
So far in 2025, IRCC has conducted a wide variety of Express Entry draws, including category-based selection for healthcare professionals, French speakers, education workers, and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Key stats:
- Total ITAs issued in 2025: 55,820
- Healthcare & social services draws: 4 so far this year
- Largest healthcare draw: July 22, 2025 (4,000 ITAs, CRS cut-off 475)
Express Entry Draw Breakdown (2025 so far):
- Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): 15 draws
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC): 8 draws
- French language proficiency: 4 draws
- Healthcare and social services: 4 draws
- Education category: 1 draw
This shift highlights IRCC’s increased focus on category-based draws to meet Canada’s labour market needs, especially in critical sectors like healthcare and social services.
Why This Matters for Healthcare Professionals
Canada continues to face labour shortages in the healthcare and social services sector, making immigration through Express Entry a highly attractive pathway for doctors, nurses, caregivers, medical technicians, and other healthcare-related professionals.
By prioritizing category-based draws, IRCC is making it easier for skilled professionals in these fields to secure permanent residency and contribute to Canada’s healthcare system.
