Saskatchewan Immigration 2025: Increased SINP Quota Creates New Opportunities
Good news for aspiring immigrants to Canada! Saskatchewan has announced an increase in its immigration quota for 2025 under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The federal government has granted Saskatchewan an additional 1,136 nominations, raising the province’s total allocation for 2025 to 4,761 spots.
This expansion comes as a relief for many applicants whose applications were previously affected by sector caps and changes in program rules. With the new quota, more skilled workers, international graduates, and in-demand professionals will now have a chance to secure Permanent Residency (PR) in Canada through Saskatchewan.
What This Means for Applicants
The increased SINP allocation will immediately benefit sectors like:
- Trucking
- Accommodation & Hospitality
- Food Services
- Retail Trade
These industries had already reached their 25% nomination cap earlier in 2025, forcing SINP to return applications. With the new quota, Saskatchewan will resume processing applications in these high-demand sectors.
Changes to SINP in 2025
Earlier this year, several significant changes were introduced to the SINP, including:
- A 50% reduction in allocations compared to 2024.
- A new requirement that 75% of nominees must already be living in Canada.
- Of the 25% allocated to overseas applicants, priority is being given to candidates in healthcare, agriculture, and skilled trades.
- Closure of the Entrepreneur and Farm Owner/Operator PR pathways.
- Restricted eligibility for certain Open Work Permit holders and international students.
- Removal of some occupations like spas, salons, and pet care services (except veterinarians) from eligibility.
Other Provinces Also Receiving Increases
Saskatchewan isn’t the only province seeing adjustments to its immigration allocations in 2025:
- Newfoundland and Labrador: +1,000 additional PNP spots, plus 475 under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), totaling 2,525 allocations.
- New Brunswick: +1,500 additional PNP spots, plus 1,250 under AIP, bringing its total to 4,250 allocations.
- Yukon: +67 additional nomination slots.
Meanwhile, provinces like Ontario and British Columbia have faced cuts of up to 50%, leading to stricter caps, stream closures, and reduced opportunities in 2025.
Why This Update Matters
The increase in Saskatchewan’s SINP quota means new opportunities for skilled workers and professionals aiming to immigrate to Canada. With Saskatchewan’s growing demand for workers in trucking, food services, retail, and hospitality, this update creates fresh pathways to Canadian Permanent Residency.
If you’re planning to immigrate to Canada, understanding these program changes and applying strategically can make all the difference.
