A Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) is a special type of work permit issued by the Government of Canada to allow certain temporary residents to continue working while their application for permanent residence is being processed. It helps "bridge" the gap between the expiration of a temporary work permit and the final decision on a permanent residence application.
1. Eligibility: Permanent Residence Application You must have already submitted a complete application for permanent residence under one of the following programs:FSWP,FSTP,CEC.
2. Valid Work Permit: You must be in Canada on a valid work permit that is due to expire within the next four months or has already expired but is within the 90-day restoration period.
3. Inland Applicant: You must be physically present in Canada when you apply for the BOWP.
4. Stage of PR Application: Your application for permanent residence must have passed the completeness check (for Express Entry) or received an acknowledgment of receipt (for non-Express Entry programs).
Apply Online: The BOWP application is typically submitted online through the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) portal.
