The Northwest Territories Provincial Nominee Program (NTNP) allows the
government of the Northwest Territories (NWT) to nominate skilled
workers, entrepreneurs, and their families for permanent residence in
Canada. This program helps the territory meet its labor market needs and
supports economic growth by attracting foreign talent.
There are two main streams under the
NTNP:
1. Employer-Driven
Stream:
This stream helps NWT employers hire foreign
nationals for positions that cannot be filled by local workers. It
includes the following categories:
Skilled Worker:For employers hiring workers with experience in a
high-skilled occupation (NOC Skill Level 0, A, or B).
Entry-Level/Semi-Skilled Worker:For employers hiring workers in
semi-skilled positions (NOC Skill Level C or D).
Critical Impact Worker:Focuses on addressing immediate labor
shortages in semi-skilled or low-skilled positions.
2. Business Stream:
This stream is designed for entrepreneurs or investors who wish to establish
or invest in a business in the Northwest Territories. To be eligible,
applicants must demonstrate business experience and present a viable
business plan. They also need to meet specific financial and investment
criteria based on the location and nature of the business.
General Eligibility Requirements:
Valid Job Offer: For the Employer-Driven Stream, applicants must
have a valid, permanent job offer from an NWT employer.
Work Experience: Applicants must have relevant work experience in the job
offered.
Language Proficiency: Certain streams may require proof of language
proficiency (English or French), depending on the occupation level.
Intention to Settle:Applicants must demonstrate an intention to live and
work in the Northwest Territories.
