Express Entry

Express Entry is a selection system implemented by the Canadian government to expedite the application process for various Economic Immigration Programs. This predominantly electronic system allows for quicker processing times, averaging around six months. The following programs are processed through Express Entry:

  • Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)
  • Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)
Eligibility For Express Entry

To apply under Express Entry, you must meet the eligibility requirements for one of the programs processed through this system. Each program has its own specific criteria. If you meet the requirements, you can express your interest by creating an online profile that includes personal information such as work experience, skills, education, and language proficiency (test scores).

The Express Entry Process

Create a Profile: Eligible candidates create an online profile detailing their personal information.

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS): Candidates are placed into a pool and ranked using the CRS. Periodically, the highest-ranked applicants are invited to apply for Permanent Residence.

Invitation to Apply (ITA): Candidates who receive an ITA have 90 days to submit a complete application for Permanent Residence, including all necessary documents.

CSubmission and Processing: Submit all required documents within the specified timeline to avoid refusal. Successful candidates and their dependents (spouse and children) will be granted Permanent Resident status and can land in Canada.

Staying in the Pool

Candidates who do not receive an ITA will remain in the Express Entry pool for 12 months and may be selected at a future date. If not selected within this period, candidates can submit a new expression of interest by creating another profile.
